I have been asked this a couple of times, so will attempt to describe our logic here. Well, here is a list of the main reasons. I also like lists!
- The number one, main reason is to create a documentation of our travels so that we can look back and see the places we have been and what our thoughts were at the time. We have taken vacations in the past (1 to 2 weeks), and after returning for a month some of the places and people begin to run together and we can easily forget some of the small things that really made the trip. After months and hopefully years in our travel, we will be able to go back to this website and “revisit.”
- Keeping our family and friends updated on where we are and what we have been up to. I found that it makes the trip more enjoyable to bring others along with us, if not in person, then to follow along and share our experiences with the blog.
- Another hobby. Yes, I have had many enjoyable hobbies over the years and never seemed to have the time to fully pursue them. This is kind of like a hobby I suppose, spending time on something that you enjoy. Learning new features of the software, keeping my mind sharpened, trying to make it enjoyable for others. The Word Press software is extremely powerful. I opted to go with this more professional blogging software versus the free ones that are out there.
- Sharing the RV process – what has worked out well and also the problems that we discovered. Hopefully, as others may want to take a similar approach to retirement that they can learn the pitfalls. We will share the downsides as well as the good experiences.
- No, this is not to be a money making thing. Some of the highly popular travel bloggers do make some income from the banner adds, or YouTube videos, but that is not our thing. I do not want any ads on this website/blog, and believe that I have set it up without allowing any. If you do see an ad creeping in here, please let me know.
That about sums it it. Today we prepare for our garage sale tomorrow. Not exactly looking forward to it, but we can downsize some more stuff and maybe pick up some pocket change to fill that 50 gallon diesel fuel tank on our truck!
We have 10 days until we move out of the house with a moving truck crew coming to haul the few pieces of furniture we are keeping to storage. Then onto Hampton Inn as I finish out my work days. Three Monday’s to go!
I always like to include a photo. Here is one from when Pat and I were just married and starting our adventure together 44 years ago. Notice the matching hair color. Not so much so today…
Have a good day!
I remember u both at this age almost like it was yesterday. U & Patricia had ur first date that Christmas holiday when Mike brought me to Indiana to meet his family. Patricia wore a red plaid skirt & vest I had brought. U were both so cute. & the rest is history! I look forward to following ur travels & hope eventually they will bring u to Texas. We love u lots. Lorna
Thanks Lorna for the sweet comments. Yes, I also have those early memories and hope to create a few more along the way. Always enjoyed our roughing it camp outs in southern Indiana.

Great idea to do a blog! I’m excited to follow you two on your journeys. Such a darling pic of you two!
Oh my goodness! What a sweet picture! (and a bit funny now)
