Venice Italy part 2

I’m continuing the blog post from our high-speed train day trip to Venice. We walked all over that city with 472 bridges and hardly any motorized traffic. It was a joy to walk the beautiful canals and bridge without having to worry about the crazy traffic like in Florence. Our walk today takes us past some of the major sights.

 

Venice in Photos

I’ll describe the highlights in captions but not a lot of text today. Just photos.

The crowds were not bad at all today. Much, much better than May of last year. St Mark’s Basilica

The Bridge of Sighs. Famous for connecting the prison to the Doge’s interrogation rooms. The name implies a deep sigh as they march over the bridge to never see daylight again.

And our day in Venice is coming to an end. Our 6:30 train back awaits

Wrap Up

We have a few more Italy adventures before we leave for Spain. During our four weeks, the weather has changed from hot and humid to quite cool as we bundle up for outings. No more shorts and flip flops.
