Travel Day to Charleston, SC

Now this travel day was about perfect.  We fueled the truck up the night before and worked on laundry and some other tasks to be able to leave by about 9:00 am.  Because a moving day is almost like going to work!  We had a whole 2-hour drive ahead of us!  After a slow start to the day and visiting with neighbors, we left about 11:30 am.

Seriously, I have developed a long checklist to make sure we travel safely and everything stays secure.  We keep adding to it as we find more opportunities to improve.

We did meet a very interesting couple from California at the Red Gate campground.  They bought and new Ford F-350 and a Bighorn 5th wheel similar to ours, but 3 years ago.  And they have been full-time living in it since then with their 3 cats.  We were able to compare notes and got some great tips from them.  They have campgrounds booked for the next 6 months!  We had better get busy.

We arrived at about 2:00 pm and we set up by 3:00 pm.  The park is nice, with a swimming pool, trails, fishing lake, and full hook-ups (FHU).  The only real drawback is there is not much room between campsites.  Also, there were a couple of tight turns for the Beast.  I had to back up a bit and swing way wide.  But made it!  Maybe the challenge makes it more rewarding.  It did not seem like it at the time though.

We did go fishing again last night.  Had the worst open-bail fishing line backlash ever recorded.  A rookie mistake.  Not sure what happened.  Maybe I need to add something else to the ever expanding checklist.  Anyway, fishing was over for the evening.

Here are some photos of the campground.
