I do feel pretty fortunate to have now received my second dose of the Covid vaccine. Maybe this will begin the end of the grip that this virus has had on this country and the world. There is much information published on the reactions that people have from this dose, but I will give you what it was like from my perspective. What to expect…
Clermont Florida – Our January Home
Clermont Florida – It was nice to arrive on a sunny 80 degree day after a pleasant drive south. Our home for the month of January is the Orlando suburb of Clermont. This is the same place that we stayed during the “shelter in place” order back in February through June. We have several day trips planned and hope to get the Vaccine scheduled in as well. It should be a relaxing and interesting month at our January Home!
Hurricanes and Florida’s History
While we are waiting a few more days to begin our northbound ascent, we are well into the Florida hurricane season. It officially began on June 1st, so I was curious about the timing of most of these powerful storms and whatever other facts I could find about hurricanes and Florida’s history with them.
Ham Radio Station KC9LC Now Activated!
I decided that it was time to activate a long dormant hobby, Amateur (Ham) Radio. With nothing but spare time on my hands, due to the Covid-19 lockdown, I sorted through our storage bins down in the RV’s basement compartments. Finding all the parts it was then just a matter of assembling and attaching the antenna, run the coax, and then set up all the gear. Finally, after a three year absence, I was able to activate ham radio station KC9LC!
Covid Lockdown Day 19
We are continuing to shelter in place at our RV resort just west of Orlando Florida. I feel pretty safe here, in fact we have had very little social contact and always maintaining the 6-10 feet. In fact, it has been over two weeks since we were inside of any brick and mortar store. Utilizing the online apps and curbside pickups, we simply park in the designated spot, call the store, and within a minute an employee loads the groceries into our truck. Then it is home to disinfect everything!
We’ve Moved! RV Park Issues in Florida
During the week of March 15th, things kept getting crazier by the day due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Florida state parks were closing their campgrounds and many private parks were all but shutting down. Our RV resort, Pioneer Creek, announced they were locking all common area buildings, restrooms, and the laundry rooms. Would their next move be to actually close the park? Would the state hold people in place? Okay, it is time to determine what to do…
Some Strange Times – Day 9
The news items seem to have major changes and new updates everyday. Our society is on hold for now. I wish I knew for how long. We are in some strange times. In the meantime, we are staying in (or around our site), and staying put in our remote area of south Florida – day 9 so far. With all of the near panic driven news, I thought it would be nice to post a peaceful blog update from our February visit to Disney World’s Magic Kingdom. But then, I thought that might look a little weird with us out and about in huge crowded spaces. So, instead I have reverted to some thoughts and a walking tour through our RV park in pictures.
