Every year we load the RV for a fall foliage trip to our local state park. It is the perfect time of year for warm days, cool nights, brilliant colors, hiking, and ham radio! I make a campfire each night to keep warm by as we watch the sunset. State parks are some of the best camping places to enjoy the great outdoors. Fall Update
We are now well into the fall season and the morning temperatures are sliding down below the freezing point. Although the day time temps are still decent and now into the low to mid 60’s. This is the first time that I have posted in four weeks and even though there are some activities to discuss, today’s blog is more of a potpourri diary of my thoughts. Kind of scary. It has been a very nice quiet and relaxing month. So here is a quick recap of our last month.
Parks On The Air – First Activation
One of my many hobbies is Amateur (Ham) Radio. And a sub-section of the hobby is setting up a portable radio station in a park and making as many contacts as possible with other ham operators. I selected a local state park, made reservations for four nights, and had a blast. My radio callsign is KC9LC.
Snowbird Prep
They say that the second time is a charm. I certainly hope that is correct as we are loading the RV up for another attempt at the migration south. We have a few more things to load and then we are off!
Back Home in Virginia
It was good to be back home in Virginia! Back to see family, friends and all the annual doctor and dental appointments. Our two weeks at Claytor Lake State Park went by in the blink of an eye. I feel we accomplished much and got to hang out with our kids after a long absence due to our travels. Here is a recap:
