There is always a plethora of activities here at Orchid Lake RV and in the vicinity of New Port Richey (NPR). One of the occasional activities is a small cruise out of NPR on a 31 person boat. It is run by Captain Anthony Aristides Andrianos, a resident here at our RV park. This cruise was a two hour sunset cruise out into the Gulf and along the coast.
Sunset Cruise
This cruise was a two hour affair, not the three hour cruise of Gilligan fame. We left the docks at just before the 5pm scheduled time as all parties were aboard. Captain Anthony runs these “special” cruises from time to time along with other customizable charters. I first met Anthony last year when I noticed that he had ham radio antennas at his place. We’ve talked many times over the year about ham radio and his boat charter business.
From the launch docks it is a two-mile trip out through a channel to the gulf. Many beautiful homes and boats are along this channel providing interesting sights along the way. Of course, Anthony provides a narrative to point out things and some great music as well. The cruise was BYOB and snacks.
The boat tours along the shallow coastline and a bit out into the gulf to get the best sunset view. The weather was perfect at 72 degrees and the seas were glass-like calm. This time of year the sunset was just before 6pm.
Toward the end of the trip, some of the “partying” crowd became rather loud, but were having a good time. I would have preferred the quieter and more subdued ambiance, but that’s just me. And maybe a few others as well. 🙂

The pictures did turn out quite well. Hope that you enjoy.
Wrap Up
Thanks for following along! We continue to have a great winter at our place in Florida. The weather has been a mix of 3 cool days followed by a week of 70-80’s, then a storm and 3 more cool days. Very different from last year.
We are enjoying all the restaurants, breweries, many friends, and attending our local church in NPR. Take care and God Bless.
Looks like a great time. Next time in FL we need to see that area. I’m sure it has changed since last in NPR in 1997.
Keep sharing!
