We usually like to stay a week in each area to fully explore, have a couple of down days, and to take advantage of the weekly rates. Unfortunately, our time schedule would only allow two days in Waco, so we had to use our time wisely, but I’m sure we missed a few things. Continue reading “Two Days in Waco Texas”
A Dallas Texas Thanksgiving
We just finished a wonderful Thanksgiving week with family in the Dallas Texas area. We finally make it to Texas after a long driving year from Florida all the way up to Maine and then back to the southwest. Texas will be our winter home for the next four months. Four locations for about a week each and then down near the Mexico border for three months at one place. That will be our longest stay in one place since going full-time RVing! Natchitoches – Louisiana’s Oldest Town
Our Journey continues, this time in a northern direction, as we leave the very friendly Betty’s RV park in the far south of Louisiana. Why go north at this time of year as the temps are plummeting? Well, that’s a good question, but the answer is to have Thanksgiving with family in the Dallas Texas area. Our three day stopover on the way to Dallas was near the very inviting small town of Natchitoches Louisiana. What a gem! Continue reading “Natchitoches – Louisiana’s Oldest Town”
Abbeville Louisiana; Betty’s RV Park 2018 Year 2
This is our second time down to the southern Cajun country in Louisiana. The small town of Abbeville has some of the friendliest people and the best food. And they like to have a good time! They have festivals going on every few days. We went to two festivals over the first weekend after arriving, including the world famous Omelette Festival. We have been so busy having fun that I may need a few days to just rest up! Continue reading “Abbeville Louisiana; Betty’s RV Park 2018 Year 2”
New Orleans; The Big Easy Experience
New Orleans is not your typical tour. The city has so many different facets that it must be experienced, not just visited. Our travel is all about experiencing the journey as we don’t have an end date at this time. It just so happened to be on our route to Texas this year and the city has been on our list of destinations from the beginning. Our first time here! Continue reading “New Orleans; The Big Easy Experience”
Meridian Mississippi; An Industrial Town From Another Era
We are continuing our trek southwest to spend the winter in Texas and have spent three days in this mid-sized southern town of Meridian, Mississippi. General Sherman burned most of the city down during the Civil War. After the war it was rebuilt and was once a booming industrial town located on a railway hub growing many large businesses. In the 1950’s and the decline of the railway industry the town fell into a depression and is still working on the recovery. We did find a few places to explore… Continue reading “Meridian Mississippi; An Industrial Town From Another Era”
Nashville TN; Music City!
The featured photo above is the stained glass from the Upper Room.
The last few days in Virginia required a move to another campground, the Wytheville KOA, due to the Ft Chiswell location was full up for the additional days we were required to stay for a dental appointment. Many RVers on the way to Florida on either I-77 or I-81. The KOA was a decent RV park and included a 6-lane bowling alley. That was a new one for us!

Then we relocated to Sevierville Tn, a fun town, but we only had one night due to the delays leaving VA. The traffic in Sevierville is horrendous. Especially when driving the truck/camper combo. Then it was on to Music City! Continue reading “Nashville TN; Music City!”
Goodbye Virginia (for now)
We have now relocated to Nashville Tennessee after having delayed our departure twice. Maybe we packed too much into our stop at our former home area. Each delay causes me to shorten the stay at our next two stops and forfeit some camp fees. That is the downside to all the advance planning that we do. Although it has been a great time with family and friends and that has been very special. Continue reading “Goodbye Virginia (for now)”
A Few Extra Days in DC After the Wedding
Washington D.C. is a large city at 6.1 million people in the metro area and is the 7th largest in the US. It is a very large city and has more things to do than any other city (my opinion). And most of the major attractions are free! This was our 3rd visit in the last two years. We get to visit with family and see tons of stuff. It is always a great time! This time we attended our son’s wedding and then stayed a couple of extra days. Continue reading “A Few Extra Days in DC After the Wedding”
Bryan & Jen’s Wedding

We have a new daughter-in-law! Our son Bryan married Jennifer Durdall on this last Saturday, October 6th. It was a lovely wedding with great weather and located in their hometown of Washington D.C. That location allowed for some sightseeing, fine eating, and quality time with family. Continue reading “Bryan & Jen’s Wedding”
