Venturing Out – Biker Bar, Hike, and a Move

We are nearing the end of our month stay in Clermont Florida. It has been a month of hiking, taking long walks, reading many books, some scheduled truck maintenance, and a couple more excursions out. One day trip was over the the east coast to check out an RV park for a possible future stay. Another trip was to a cool little Tiki Hut on a lake for lunch – the Biker Bar! Then there was a hike and more!

Clermont Florida – Our January Home

Clermont Florida – It was nice to arrive on a sunny 80 degree day after a pleasant drive south. Our home for the month of January is the Orlando suburb of Clermont. This is the same place that we stayed during the “shelter in place” order back in February through June. We have several day trips planned and hope to get the Vaccine scheduled in as well. It should be a relaxing and interesting month at our January Home!

Brunswick Ga – Jekyll & St Simon Islands

Brunswick, Ga – Our next stop on the slow journey to Florida was to a new destination for us. One that we have previously sailed by I-95 when either north or southbound. Having three more days before we are booked to arrive in Florida we camped in Brunswick and then explored the islands on our two down days. In my prior post, I posted some photos that Pat took on Jekyll Island exclusively from Driftwood Beach. In this post we will explore more of the Jekyll and St Simon Islands.

Jekyll Island Ga – Driftwood Beach

On our slow trip to our Florida winter destination, we took another three day stop in Brunswick, Georgia. This was our first stay in this coastal Georgia location and got out to explore. In this post we focus only on the small section of the Jekyll Island beach that is known as Driftwood Beach. Pat’s photos in this blog will try to capture the crazy twisted pretzel shaped logs. Jekyll Island, Ga and Driftwood Beach from Pat’s viewpoint.

Savannah, Ga – Part 2

Our four night stayover was long enough for a couple of forays into the city to walk between the town squares and admire the stately old homes. In part 1, Pat and I walked around a bit and had a great anniversary dinner. In part 2, I’ve mainly included a few more photos that I liked. Hope you do too. It was great to see all the Christmas decorations on the grand old homes. Savannah, Ga part 2 plus some other thoughts…

Asheboro, NC – first stop winter 2020

We debated whether to travel at our normal slow pace (150 miles and stay a few days), or just bite the bullet and drive like a demon bat and get to the warmer climate. The slower pace won out since we can still get out for hiking and walking about in the 40-50 degree weather. Even with the virus running loose there must still plenty of things to do. So, our first stop was in the small friendly town of Asheboro, NC.

Vacation Time!

It has been a month since my last blog update. We have been quite busy with the new “sticks and bricks” house. Many changes and updates are now completed or else will be done soon. Such is the life when buying an older home. I find that doing many of these chores is very enjoyable, but after three months with very little time off, we are both ready for a break. Besides that it is getting cold in Virginia and we have already gotten two small snowfalls! Vacation time!

Fall 2020 Updates

We have had another busy three weeks. Some great fall weather with temps in the 70’s and mostly sunny. With a few cold snaps thrown in. I suspect the cold will be making more appearances very soon. We both work on projects during the day and then spend some time relaxing at night watching a program or two. So, here is a quick recap of our last three weeks of transition and our fall 2020 updates…
