Back in June, Pat and I had the great privilege to see our daughter Audrey marry a fine young man, Brandon. We are both very happy for this young couple. In this blog post I will include a few photos from the wedding as well as some of my reflections on this memorable event. When it is your only daughter, you know that it will be something special!
Planning Phase
Audrey planned the event over several months, did a budget, coordinated and executed it perfectly. We could not have been prouder of the results. From booking the barn venue to securing the caterer and music. She even made most of the decorations with the help of her friends.
Her wedding venue was held in the tiny West Virginia town of Ballard, just over an hour from our home in Virginia. It was a large barn on a mountain prairie between the Blue Ridge Mountains ranges. Audrey had it planned right down to a week of perfect weather! No rain, pleasant temps and bright sunshine.
Being able to see her get married and onto a new life felt like the culmination of many years of spending time with her as a very young girl and into the beautiful woman she has grown into.
We had two boys who were teenagers when Audrey was born. She was the sweet daughter after raising two rambunctious boys. What a difference and at a perfect time in our lives to enjoy raising her. Pat and I were both a bit older at 40 at that point. Definitely more mature and experienced in the ways of parenting. Ready for a new challenge!
The Event
There was a rehearsal and dinner the day before with the usual run through of the process with Audrey and some friends directing the process. Since she was the first-time wedding planner herself, she had to research exactly what she wanted and remember how it was to play out.
The wedding party ran through the ceremony a few times until it seemed to go well. Then we all enjoyed a delicious pitch in dinner. Brandon has a large family, and they all provided many tasty home cooked dishes.
We were also very fortunate to have some out of state family make the trip here to Virginia for the wedding. Our son Bryan and his wife Jennifer along with Tom/Ginny from Ohio, and John/Cindy from Florida. And of course, our local son Ross was there. It was also great to have a welcome dinner for them at our home a day before.
During the ceremony I was remembering back to all the little outings that we had when she was small. Hiking, fishing, craft classes, and many more daddy and daughter adventures. Even the frequent walks to the neighborhood playground while Pat was making dinner. Now, she is all grown up. Many great memories.
Walking her down the isle (actually a grass path) will always be one of my greatest memories. Have a great life sweet daughter, you are something special!

Wrap Up
Pat and I wish and pray for the absolute very best for our new son-in-law Brandon and Audrey as they begin this life together. As I’m writing this, some cooler, fall-like temperatures are with us. Some leaves are already starting to fall. End of one season and the beginning of another.
I hope that you have had a great summer as well. Thanks for following along and God Bless.
Beautiful wedding! So happy for you all! Congratulations on your new son!
Thanks Peggy! A great addition to the family.
