Meeting Another Blogger!: Randy and Pam Warner

The featured image above is sunset over the bay from our campground.

RV traveling can be a complex business with the complicated modern coaches to the trip planning research that is required.  Being a full time RV traveler makes things even more interesting.  Fortunately, there are many resources on the internet available to assist almost every aspect of the RV life.

One of the resources are the many people who have been doing this for a long time.  We had the great fortune to meet another RV blogger (LINK: warnerrvnews.blogspot.com) who has been a full-timer since 2009.  Randy and Pam Warner were staying in a campground just a few miles north of us, so I reached out and asked if they would like to meet somewhere during their stay.

Pat and I have been following their blog and travels for a few years before we set off on our retirement and RV Journey.  They were one of the several online resources that we used to learn just how to go about this process.

So it kind of felt like we already knew them.  New/old friends.  And they figured out all of this before we had all the online resources that are out there today.

We agreed to meet on Sunday at the local Baptist church and then have lunch in Ellsworth.  I had so many questions to ask as they have literally been everywhere in the 48 states, and to some places many times.  They have over 100,000 miles traveled in their motorhome.  Can you imagine that?

They are retired military (thank you for your service!) and have children and grandchildren in the Virginia Beach area, so they plan to be there a few months each year.  The rest of the time is spent traveling the country in their large diesel Tiffin motorhome.

After the church service that we attended together, we drove a short distance to Finn’s Irish Pub in Ellsworth for a nice lunch and chatting about our RV travels.  It is amazing at some of the same campgrounds that we have each stayed.

I had many questions for them as we ate lunch and tried to absorb the  answers they provided.  Both about RVing and writing blogs.  Randy and Pam are about our age and they have been on the road for almost ten years.  I can’t imagine all of the experiences and beautiful sights they have seen as I feel very blessed at what we have done in just the last 15 months.

Randy Warner has almost finished writing his first book about their first year on the road, aiming for a late fall release.  He is quite the comedian with many funny observations.  I look forward to his book coming out.  Pam has been carving and whittling walking sticks out of all kinds of wood including avocado!   They are beautiful.

As I have mentioned before in this blog, one of the true blessings in this RV life is to meet many other people who share our common interest.  Hopefully, I absorbed a small amount of their knowledge of favorite places to visit and other topics.

We also decided to do an Acadia hike together on Monday and pack a picnic lunch.  The hike was the Jordan Pond Trail Loop.  More on that in my next post.

Jordan Pond Hike
Our hike around Jordan Pond. This was a bit strenuous 3.5 miler with great views.  Some light rain at first that quickly drizzled out.

The Warner’s are a first class couple and we feel fortunate to have our paths crossed in our journeys and have some new/old friends.  We are here in the Bar Harbor/Acadia area for another 10 days and then begin the slow trek south.

Take care and God Bless.

Narrows Too
Another sunset photo from our campground. Can you ever have too many sunset photos?  😉

  1. I enjoy following your posts! I wonder how big of a community is doing the exact same things as the two of you are doing, probably more than I expect. Great posts and thanks for letting us readers tag along for the ride!

    1. Thanks Michael! As the baby boomer era people are retiring, there seems to be a large amount that are buying RVs and taking off with many going the full-time route. We are seeing them at the campgrounds. Just google full-time RVers sometime.
