All vacations have to end I suppose. So it is with us as a retired full time RVers. We left the RV all alone in Cocoa Florida for 10 days as we embarked on our Caribbean cruise and then a 3-hour drive to Key West, Florida. This is our last day in the southernmost city and I’ve tried to capture a few images to remember this truly unique city.
The Schooner Wharf Bar – an iconic outdoor bar with music. The Key West Customs House, now a museum. Built to US specs including a roof pitched to shed snow. Another reason government spending is usually not efficient. A cruise ship was as the dock for this evening’s sunset. Way too many people. The throngs waiting to see the famous Key West sunset. Yes, the sunset was a dandy and received a big cheer. El Meson de Pepe for great Cuban food. Oh, and mojitos too. Morning beer trucks ready to restock. Then the famous Sloppy Joe’s Bar. Owned by Joe Russell, the friend and fishing partner of Ernest Hemingway. Tony’s started in 1933. Wonder if they had all the t-shirt shops back then? Another well known bar, the Hog’s Breath Saloon. Gotta have one more rooster photo. Biker Chick
