We have really been enjoying the spring and summer in the Virginia mountains and our new mid-century home! So much so that I kind of got away from regular blog updates. It has now been over two months since the last post! I have missed writing and creating posts that document our activities and happenings in life. I will endeavor to catch back up.
Pat and I have been either very busy with home updates, or hosting visits, or else just enjoying the retirement life. Everything is going well for us in this post pandemic world. It is great to be vaccinated and not have to wear the cursed masks anymore.
We have painted a couple of more rooms, bought new outdoor furniture for the screened room, and finally have the kitchen updates finished. I’ll have a future post with pictures.
My art studio is now all set up and operational. It is great to have a dedicated room where I can leave everything set up. I’ve even done a few paintings and framed others for our walls.
Next up is my ham radio room, otherwise known as the hamshack. I will build an operation station for my radios, laptop, and accessories and then a work bench for electronic projects. It will also be nice to have this as a dedicated room.
Our 41 foot fifth wheel coach, the Bighorn, has been at a storage location about an hour south of here. The location is at an RV dealership and they are doing some upkeep/repair work while there. Very handy, although expensive for the work done.
We now have all our RV park reservations made for the fall as we make our way back south for the winter. More on that in a later post. I found that many RV parks have been fully booked all spring and summer. And there prices have gone up. Some parks have even gone to “dynamic pricing,” an online system that will change prices based on demand.
Our RV travel will be six months of the year while we stay home the other six. Some RV travel will be south in the winter and some future plans might take us back out west to the mountains. Ya, never know.
Well, that is a very high level update and I’m looking forward to some more posts out soon. This will be my fifth year of writing the blog. I retired from my accounting work in May of 2017 and I actually started the blog a few months earlier.
I’ll leave you with some photos from our new Virginia home in the springtime.
Take care and God Bless.
Great to get an update.
Yes, finally
Looking forward to seeing you guys!!!!
Yes, we are too
Love your house. Looking forward to seeing the pictures of the inside
The pictures will be here soon!
Can’t wAit to see what you have done to the house and to hear about your new adventures. Glad you are both well
Thank you for the update! Glad all is well!
Thanks for dropping by
Thanks for the update. Ham shack. I like it.
If you ever get to the Jamestown/Williamsburg//Yorktown area, Newport News has a good RV campground we thought was pretty good. And not crazy expensive. We’d love to see you guys!
We would also love to get over there. Maybe next year
Loved your update and pics! Your home is very beautiful! Delighted to read about your art studio and ham radio plans! Blessings on your travel plans later! It’s really too bad that the park prices have gone up and can’t be counted on either. I’m glad that isn’t stopping you from continuing to travel and makenthe most of your retirement. You certainly are exemplary in your planning! Have a very blessed rest of your unmasked summer! 😃
The RV park prices do make us check around some, but the booked up full is another matter. It seems that RV travel has become even more popular.
