Happy 4th of July!

It’s the July 4th Holiday!  A special celebration.  Why is this a special celebration?

A group of brave men adopted the Declaration of Independence in 1776, after it was drafted by Thomas Jefferson.  All of the signers knew that by signing it they had committed treason with Britain and it could be their death sentence.  Can you imagine the bravery of these men?

And then by telling the entire world they knew that the American militia from the 13 colonies would soon be engaging in battles with the vast British Empire.

This was the birth of the US.  John Adams was the first to have the idea of an annual celebration.

We just recently visited Boston, Concord, Lexington and other important historical sites relating to the birth of our great country.  We heard all the stories of the events leading up to the war such as the stamp act, Boston Tea Party, and Paul Revere’s ride to alert the countryside.

We even stood on the site of the Boston Massacre.

I will probably enjoy a cookout and possibly fireworks, but will be thankful for our freedoms in this country and for the people who have fought to keep it free over the 242 years since!

Have a great day and God Bless.
