This will be my last post from Colorado as we are now well into Wyoming. Just getting caught up on some items. After leaving Littleton, Colorado (suburb of Denver), we traveled due north up I-25 for a couple of nights at Fort Collins. The drive was 151 miles and through the middle of two good sized cities, so not my favorite kind of drive. Although, on a Saturday morning it turned out to be no big issue.
Family Meet Ups
We met our niece Alyssa for lunch since she is attending the University of Northern Colorado in the nearby town of Greeley. Have not seen her for several years, so it was very nice to catch up. She is studying to be an American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter. She has grown up to be a sweet young lady.
In a prior week, we also met Pat’s cousin Bruce while we were in Littleton. He also grew up in Indiana and then moved around the country a bit with his job. He now has lived in Denver for about eight years. He met us one Sunday afternoon at a local brewery with his dog Cooper. We had a great time catching up over a brew. And I forgot to get a picture…dang it.
Fort Collins
This is a decent sized city at 165,000 people and it is at 5,000 feet in elevation. The historic downtown is probably the best done of any we have seen. A few of the streets have been closed to auto traffic so that people can freely walk to the many shops and restaurants.
The historic downtown is so well done that Disney copied the look of the building for their “main street” setup that you see at Disney.
Ft. Collins/Wellington KOA
Our RV park had a few nice features such as a pool and rec room. Like many though, the sites were too close and the roads fairly narrow. Challenging for the big rig, but good enough for a two night stay on our way north.
We are currently in Alpine Wyoming. Coming up next is a blog update on the capital city of Cheyenne Wyoming. Thanks for following along! Subscribe for updates and leave a comment if you wish!
Take care and God Bless.
Looks like a great short hop stop on your way to Wyoming. I know Alyssa enjoyed the lunch visit with you. I’m glad it worked out to meet up. Looking forward to the Wyoming pictures.
Travel Safe!
