Floyd Virginia Lunch

One of our favorite Saturday lunch places in our area is the town of Floyd Virginia. Specifically, the old Floyd Country Store, a local musical landmark. They host an Americana music lunch each Saturday from 12 noon to whenever. A couple of Saturday’s ago we took the scenic half hour drive south to this quirky little town…

Floyd Va

Floyd is a town in Floyd County, Virginia, United States. The population was 425 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Floyd County. The Town of Floyd was originally named Jacksonville as the surrounding county was formed during the tenure of President Andrew Jackson. The name was subsequently changed to Floyd for Virginia governor John Floyd. More about the town HERE.

The small town is a tourist attraction with many small shops, crafts, several restaurants, and with a focus on local live music. It is also located next to the Blue Ridge parkway and a few wineries. Many reasons to visit.

Floyd Country Store

The lunch was very good as it was expected. The live Americana music was also top notch. The store features local or regional acts that play for tips or whatever the store pays – no cover charge. But we do patronize and buy lunch and tip the band well.

I did forget to get any photos of the lunch food. For some reason I am focused on the eating and forget the camera. Pat had the salad with grilled chicken, and I had the chicken salad sandwich plus a cup of the tomato soup. All very good!

Walk Around Town

We like to walk around after lunch and check out the shops, but this time due to a light rain, we just had a short walk stopping in only a handful of shops. And we successfully managed to avoid buying anything on this trip, but had another great Saturday in Floyd.

Thanks for following along! As I write this, we are wrapping up our family Thanksgiving weekend and beginning to pack for Florida. I hope everyone had a great holiday and safe travels. Take care and God Bless.
