Hi There,
Updated 4/20/23: We have stopped the full-time RV travel in late 2020 after 3.5 years of an incredible RV journey. Our travels have taken us through 23 states and we had many great experiences until pandemic hit and travel options were limited. We decided to purchased a home in Radford, Virginia, near two of our children. Now we travel in the RV a few times during the summer and then spend the winter in Florida. Thanks for following along!
May 5th 2017: We are Randy and Pat and have retired from the workplace, downsized most everything we own, and began traveling the country in an RV on May 5th, 2017. It is kind of scary and exciting at the same time. Oh the places we will visit!
Randy: I was born in Indiana, living there for the first 30 years of my life. I married Pat (Trish), my high school sweetheart, graduated from Indiana University and began my career in accounting. I began working at Federal-Mogul, an auto parts manufacturer, while attending college. After 3 corporate relocations from Indiana to Missouri, back to Indiana, and then finally we moved to the Blue Ridge Mountain area near Blacksburg, VA. This is a beautiful area to raise three children and then to finally decide on retirement at 63 years old and 44 years with the company.
We belong to the Christian faith and are members of a Presbyterian PCA church in Draper Valley, Va. When traveling the country, we always try to find a good bible believing church to attend on Sunday mornings. We have met many good people that way.
Over the years, I have picked up many hobbies, but generally have lacked the time to pursue them as much as I would have liked. Among the main hobbies are: amateur (ham) radio, playing guitar, riding my motorcycle, shooting sports, home brewing beer, and planning for vacations.
Having worked in accounting for all of my career, excel worksheets are the primary tool used daily. So, I have taken that skill and developed many worksheets and models toward our retirement plans. It all works out on paper, so it is time to test it in real life!
Pat: Hi! I’m Pat and I was born into a large and loving family in Indiana and spent my formative years on a farm where my parents raised crops, animals, and eight children (2 girls and 6 boys).
We are a close knit family and traveling to see and spend time with them is one of our greatest joys. My mom is 90 years old and still encourages me and challenges me daily to live a full and joyful life – she is amazing!
I married my sweetie young and have three very special children who I miss terribly when away but with phone calls, texts and extended visits, we try to pack in all we can.
I enjoy reading, anything related to history, learning about natural health and nutrition, cooking, and exploring God’s amazing creation. I love our country and appreciate all the sacrifices made to keep her free.
God has blessed me so much with His amazing grace and I rely on Him minute by minute.
Seeing this beautiful country with my best friend is a dream come true.
