Asheboro, NC – first stop winter 2020

We debated whether to travel at our normal slow pace (150 miles and stay a few days), or just bite the bullet and drive like a demon bat and get to the warmer climate. The slower pace won out since we can still get out for hiking and walking about in the 40-50 degree weather. Even with the virus running loose there must still plenty of things to do. So, our first stop was in the small friendly town of Asheboro, NC.

Vacation Time!

It has been a month since my last blog update. We have been quite busy with the new “sticks and bricks” house. Many changes and updates are now completed or else will be done soon. Such is the life when buying an older home. I find that doing many of these chores is very enjoyable, but after three months with very little time off, we are both ready for a break. Besides that it is getting cold in Virginia and we have already gotten two small snowfalls! Vacation time!

Virtual Summer RV Trip

I thought it would be interesting to take a virtual RV trip to our previously planned summer destinations. While I was staying in and hunkering down. These were our 2020 plans before we cancelled the entire summer due to the lockdown. So grab a beverage and fasten your seatbelt as we take our summer trip. Our stops will be to Virginia, Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, Missouri, Tennessee, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas. The virtual trip should have some great fuel mileage!

Clermont, Florida – Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Clermont, Florida – Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The second Disney park that we visited during our stay in Clermont, Florida was the Animal Kingdom (AK). And it was our favorite of the three! Since it has been years since we visited any of the Disney parks, the Animal Kingdom was not built back then. If you have never been to the AK, just imagine being transported to an African safari complete with rustic villages, overland jeep type rides through wild animal’s habitats, and other up close displays!

Clermont, Florida – Disney Epcot

Clermont, Florida has been a great location to be very near Disney, have a Publix grocery within walking distance, many restaurants, and central to several quaint small towns. Our RV park is the Citrus Valley RV Resort and is one of the finest in our three years of travel. So, one of the goals of this location is to take in as much of Disney as we could with our good friends Calvin and Sue. Calvin, being a Disney retiree, continues to enjoy the perks and can share them with friends! In this update, we go to Epcot!

Coronavirus and Our RV Travel Plans

There is so much in the current news about the latest Coronavirus and most of it is probably the normal hype that is associated with these health issues. I’ve heard a wide variation as to how people are going to prepare and change their behavior during this time. As we are actively making our spring/summer/fall RV travel plans, I thought it would be prudent to do a little research and then make a decision if we need to modify our plans.

Clermont, Florida – Annual Maintenance, Travel Planning, & Other Stuff

Clermont, Florida – The winter travel break is a time to kind of relax from the chores of being on the road. Don’t get me wrong. We still love the travels all over this great country, but there is a small downside in the stress of relocating the 41 foot beast of a fifth wheel trailer to new and unknown destinations. During the 3-4 month winter season, in the southern warm climates, we do get the chance to just relax, but we also tackle any annual maintenance, begin on the new spring/summer/fall travel plans, and some other stuff thrown in as well.

Clermont, Florida – Disney Lunch & A Hamfest

After a great month of January, we packed up and left the JOY RV Park in Cocoa on Feb 1st for the short drive to the southwest of Orlando. Our new home location is the very fast growing town Clermont Florida, with a population of 37,000 people. This location is just a few minutes from the Disney theme parks and still has a small town feel even though it is just next door to Orlando. We recently had a trip to Disney for lunch and a few days later, I managed to hit the large amateur radio convention (hamfest) called the Hamcation.
