This post will finish up our time in DC and then our travel to the borough of Kutztown, PA. Our travel there was just less than 200 miles with some re-routing on truck routes. It is located 17 miles northeast of Reading PA. Our RV park was Pine Hill RV resort. A nice park. Not a lot of amenities but very peaceful. Washington D.C. Part 2
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to our nation’s capital. What a diverse, active, and vibrant city. So many people going about their daily lives. Most all in support of our federal government in some fashion. You have to wonder if it really takes this many people and support to help run the country. In many cases, I have been a supporter of reducing the over grown federal government and the spending that goes along with it. You have to ask what real value are most of these thousands of people adding to the security and economy of our country (I found the total number of federal employees at over 4 million including military). Washington D.C. & Cherry Hill RV Park – Part 1
We had a fantastic time touring around the DC area! There is a vast incredible amount of things to see and do. And most of them are free! While in DC doing the tourist things we also spent as much time as we could with our oldest son Bryan and his fiancee Jennifer and her mom Linda. James River State Park & Those Pesky Low Clearances
After our trip to the RV dealer for some warranty work, we drove about 100 miles to the north east to the perfect rural spot to enjoy some peace and quiet, hiking, and some history all thrown in – James River State Park. The access road into the park is longish and is basically a single lane. It is fine for our big rig until you meet another vehicle coming the other way and they have to drive off onto the convenient grassy area. The park did have some large heavily wooded campsites with huge separation between campers. Continue reading “James River State Park & Those Pesky Low Clearances”
Back To Virginia for a Short Visit
It has been awhile since our last post, so trying to get caught back up now. We have been so busy with sightseeing and activities that we have rarely had any significant downtime or else limited connectivity. We have now visited 7 states plus D.C. and driven about 3,500 miles. Continue reading “Back To Virginia for a Short Visit”
Asheboro, NC and Travel Day to Salem, VA
We found Asheboro NC to be a really cool and friendly small town located right smack dab in the middle of the state. The small town had a population of 25,000 people that we found to be friendly and helpful for visitors. We did spend 2 nights in the area and about half a day walking the downtown area and visiting with some of the shop owners. Continue reading “Asheboro, NC and Travel Day to Salem, VA”
Travel Day to Asheboro, NC and RV Repairs
Today actually worked out much better than I expected. We began the day with an early start to be able to make our 9:00 am appointment at RV Outlet near Myrtle Beach for some warranty repairs. I had heard/read many RV repair horror stories over the last few years, so I guess that I had some low expectations and was prepared to battle it out to get a few repairs done while we waited. Walks on the Beach & Huntington Beach State Park
We are nearing the end of our stay in Myrtle Beach and will be heading back inland tomorrow morning. It’s time for a different geographic phase of our travels. We have been walking along the beach every morning and enjoying the beautiful views. While we are not real beach people, but we do love to walk along the cool surf waters and look for shells or sea life. Continue reading “Walks on the Beach & Huntington Beach State Park”
Travel to Myrtle Beach & a Micro Brewery
On Tuesday, May 30th was our travel day to Myrtle Beach SC. It was about a 3 hour drive on google maps, but with traffic turned into a 4 hour task. The drive went fine but with a few tense moments as we navigated the MB city streets packed with cars. Our MPG was 10.6 while towing. It was good to arrive at our destination for the next 6 days. Memorial Day 2017
We recently toured through the Medal of Honor Museum in Charleston’s Patriot Point. Reading through the countless stories of those who earned the Medal reminds us of the sacrifice made by all those who have served to protect our freedom.
Thank you to all veterans.
