Back Home Again in Indiana!

We had a nice short 2.5 hour re-positioning from Ohio to the near south side of Indianapolis.  We like these uneventful travels with very few road changes.  Our campground here just served as a spot to plug in the camper and then to visit with some family.  The title of this post is the theme song of the state and is sung before the Indy 500 mile race.  Used to be sung by Jim Nabors.  Jim is still living and is best known for this song.  He may have also been on the Mayberry show. Springfield, Ohio; Tomorrow’s Stars RV Resort

Our trip to Indiana from Medina Ohio required a halfway stop and we ended up staying there for 4 nights.  The town of Springfield is just a few miles away from the campground and had a few things that we enjoyed seeing.  The RV park had many activities going on, a swimming pool, shuffle board, horse shoes, etc.  The only downside was our spot was near the entrance, so there was a steady stream of cars and golf carts parading by. Happy Labor Day 2017!

One last post from Put-In-Bay Ohio to capture a few picture that did not make the first cut.  Today is a warm and breezy Labor Day as I get caught up on a few chores that were on my to do list and Trish is cooking up several freezer meals. Our current campground in Effingham, Illinois is Camp Lakewood right on the shore of Lake Pauline.  Mondays are a huge checking out day at campgrounds as the weekend warriors leave, so we have gone from 100% full this morning to about 20% full now.  Nice and quiet.  I hope everyone enjoys the long weekend and a pause to take a breath, relax, and focus on what really matters. Ohio Part 3: Amish Auction in Danville Oh & Put-In-Bay, Oh

This is our final part of the continuing series of our 2-week stay near Medina, Ohio.  We visited with family and saw some very interesting places.  These two places are about as diverse as you can get from several standpoints.  A study in contrasting cultures.  One a very basic 1700’s like environment and the other a resort with all the indulgences.

Ohio Part 2; Cleveland Art Museum and the Cuyahoga Valley National Park Railway

This post continues with our nearly 2-week stay in Ohio.  We ventured into the big city of Cleveland a couple of times and were very impressed with the ability to get around and the many things to do.  The downtown area mostly looked great and it was evident that the older building were well cared for and many thriving businesses were present. Prophetstown State Park and Biking Trail Ride

This post is a jump forward to real time (Aug 24th) versus my blog updates that are about three weeks behind.  I am looking to get them caught up soon. We are currently camped at the Prophetstown State Park located near Lafayette, In. It is a real joy to be back in a state park after camping in a few private parks the last few weeks.  We just love the acres of green space, wide enjoyable campsites, the miles of trails, and all the natural beauty. Medina OH; Pier-Lon Park & Family Visit – Part 1

We packed up from the Erie, PA area and drove about 4 hours to a small town south of Cleveland, Oh.  The 150 mile drive was good except for the usual summer road construction underway.  The drive from the interstate 271/71 around Cleveland was on a few small state or county roads, but they were all big-rig accessible.  My Garmin RV GPS did not like the small roads as it kept trying to divert me to other routes, but I used the campground recommended roads after checking them on my trucker’s atlas. Erie PA; Erie Maritime Museum & Presque Isle State Park

We left the Youngstown NY area after a great week.  The awesome Falls and some delightful towns to explore made it difficult to leave, but it was time to sail back south again.  Weather wise it is still too early as there will certainly be some hot weather remaining, but we have some appointments that are driving the schedule. Niagara Falls U.S. & Canada

Wow!  What an awesome sight that we experienced in viewing the Niagara Falls.  It is difficult to really prepare for the massive size, the roar of the sound, and incredible water volume of the falls.  When you are walking the path up to the falls you begin to see the top of the water, but cannot see the entire falls until you walk right up to the steep ledge and then it is almost more than you can comprehend. Four Mile Creek State Park (New York) and Old Fort Niagara

This was a nice short commute of about 65 miles to a state park near Youngstown, New York.  Folks, this park is on the extreme northern border of New York right smack on the shore of Lake Ontario.  Talk about some fantastic sunsets and cool and quiet nights for sleeping.  Our campground shoreline had a western exposure.  Interesting to have a water front sunset when not on the gulf coast of Florida.
