Gotta see the moms! We wanted to work in a weeklong trip back to Indiana to see our moms before taking off on our spring/summer/fall plans. Finally decided to extend our stay here at Llano Grande Resort by a couple of weeks. This is a very safe and secure park to leave our rolling home for a week. So, we booked our flights and a rental car and were off to the Great Up North on Tuesday March 19th!
A Dallas Texas Thanksgiving
We just finished a wonderful Thanksgiving week with family in the Dallas Texas area. We finally make it to Texas after a long driving year from Florida all the way up to Maine and then back to the southwest. Texas will be our winter home for the next four months. Four locations for about a week each and then down near the Mexico border for three months at one place. That will be our longest stay in one place since going full-time RVing! Bryan & Jen’s Wedding
Featured photo credit: Adam Mason
We have a new daughter-in-law! Our son Bryan married Jennifer Durdall on this last Saturday, October 6th. It was a lovely wedding with great weather and located in their hometown of Washington D.C. That location allowed for some sightseeing, fine eating, and quality time with family. Continue reading “Bryan & Jen’s Wedding”
Quick Trip To See The Moms
The featured image above was the sunset in Hendricks County Indiana that greeted us!
We have now been at our old hometown in Virginia for three weeks. The long list of action items is coming along quite well. It has been a busy and somewhat stressful three weeks as we are rushing to meet some deadlines. One of the things that we wanted to do while in Virginia is a quick 500 mile trip to see our moms. So, we rented a car, packed a lunch and took off on Tuesday last week! Continue reading “Quick Trip To See The Moms”
Fort Chiswell, Week #2
The featured image was taken at our DVPC church at sunset. We are staying at the Fort Chiswell RV Park, near our former home town of Christiansburg, VA for a month before getting back on the road. There are dentist appointments, RV work, a complete sort through all of our stuff, a new car to buy, family and friends to see, and a wedding to attend. We have accomplished much at about the halfway point, but still more to do! Continue reading “Fort Chiswell, Week #2”
Washington D.C.; A Very Memorial Day Experience!
We really enjoyed our stay in Williamsburg, Va, but after a week it was time to move further north to our nation’s capital, Washington D.C. This next leg was exactly the miles that I like to travel in a day at 167, but I was dreading the drive around the DC beltway on I-495. The DC traffic can be a nightmare. Southwest Virginia; Family, Friends, Many Appointments, and a Brake Failure! Yikes!
We had reserved a great campsite at Claytor Lake State Park that is near to our old home town of Christiansburg, Virginia. We booked this site for the maximum time of two weeks to allow us time to complete all of our annual health checkups plus some vehicle maintenance.
This leg of our travels was about 400 miles over two days of driving. This is a bit longer than we really like to drive, but needed to get to our Virginia location for some appointments.
We also had an unexpected brake failure with the 5th wheel coach while traveling in the steep mountains from the Cincinnati area to a one night stopover in Huntington, West Virginia! Yikes!!! Continue reading “Southwest Virginia; Family, Friends, Many Appointments, and a Brake Failure! Yikes!”
Tigger You Will Be Missed
Tigger, our 18 year old gray tabby cat, died this last week while we were back in our home area of Virginia. He was quite old and frail and had a bad heart condition. We knew that he would not last too much longer, but seemed to be enjoying his cat’s life. Up until about his last 4 or 5 days.
Back to Indiana; Family & Friends
Our travel from Bardstown Ky. to Indianapolis was a very easy 160 miles with very few steep hills or windy roads. Nice long straight stretches of interstate highway. While driving the interstates does not give us a good look at the smaller towns, it is quicker, and usually has many good places for a rest stop with the large truck and camper. Savannah GA; More Tours & Dinner at the Olde Pink House
We continue to love the charm of this cool old southern town. And we are very fortunate to being able to share some of the time with our family in from Texas. Mike and Lorna were here for five days and we packed a ton of things into that short time. Enough sight seeing for two blog posts! Plus we tried many restaurants and a few bars for liquid refreshments as well. In this post we’ll review the rest of their visit and then saying our goodbyes.
