Our campground resort was a very nice place located in a pretty remote area of Connecticut. The Grandview is situated on a hillside overlooking a horse farm and valley. They have several outdoor sports, a large swimming pool, and two large indoor gathering places. The most interesting thing is about its haunted past… Continue reading “The GrandView Camp Resort & History”
Mystic Connecticut & Maritime Museum
We decided to work in this day trip as we were nearing the end of our week in Connecticut. It was just less than an hour to this very busy tourist town and then a few more minutes to find a parking spot for the big truck. The Mystic historic downtown and the Maritime Museum were a nice day outing. Continue reading “Mystic Connecticut & Maritime Museum”
Goodspeed Opera House: Oliver!
We found this beautiful local venue and began to check on its history and what was currently playing. The Goodspeed Opera House is definitely a return to a more elegant time. It is nestled into a small corner in the quaint, small village of East Haddam, right on the Connecticut River. So, I got online and ordered our tickets to see Oliver! Newington Connecticut; ARRL Headquarters Visit

Gillette Castle and One Hot Day in Connecticut!
One of the reasons that we traveled to the far northeast this summer was to escape the crazy heat and humidity of the southern states. Well, today that plan did not work out so well. We knew it was going to be a warm one, so left early to arrive at Gillette Castle soon after they opened just a few miles from us here in Connecticut. What an incredible place! Continue reading “Gillette Castle and One Hot Day in Connecticut!”
Connecticut; A New State!
A new state for us, Connecticut! We have now relocated twice since our stay in Bar Harbor. The first was in Boothbay, Maine for one night, then to Hampton Falls, New Hampshire for two nights, and finally a longer travel day today in the southwest direction to the small village of Moodus Connecticut. Normally, we like to travel no more than 150 miles and stay a week in a location, but sometimes we just need to cover some more distance. Continue reading “Connecticut; A New State!”
