Where do go next spring, summer, and fall? That is the question. When we started this RV Journey about two years ago, the map was a clean slate. It was all wide open territory. Now we have about 31 states that we have visited at some level. So, for next year, do we want to repeat some places or head out to some new and unknown places? Man, this is kind of like work. But fun and exciting!
Summer of 2020 Planning Stage
Yes, the long term advance planning process has started for next summer. Not down to the details, but just a general outline of where we want to go. There are some favorite places that we want to re-visit, but if we do too much of that, we don’t have the time for new places. We decided to hold the repeats for awhile so that we can focus on the new ones.
So far, we have two options. The criteria are the following: 1) mostly states that we have not been to so far in our RV Journey, 2) a travel plan not too demanding for the spring/summer/fall time period, 3) a mix of mostly small towns with a few big cities thrown in.
We enjoy the slo-mo travel plan where we drive around 150 miles and stay a week in that area. That way we can live like locals and absorb the local culture and history. Plus, we do not become too weary with our schedule. I have to remind myself that we are not on vacation sometimes. We are just living an RV life on the road!
Options (so far)
Option #1 The Great Lake Journey includes the states of Michigan, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. Of course, we would have all the states along the path from our winter destination in Florida as well.
Option #2 The Far West Journey. This would be a far west trip to the states of Arizona, Utah, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington. Plus the states in our trajectory from Florida. That trip would be a long way!
Option #3 – Nothing yet, but I’m sure we will have another option!
We will have to do a boat load of research to make this decision. It also may factor in to spend the 2020 winter in Texas versus Florida. We’ll let y’all know what we decide. Really need to decide by December to start making RV park reservations. Yep, with 1/2 million new RVs on the road each year, the Baby Boomers are filling up the parks.
If any of you RVers out there have any favorites or have some input, please leave a note in the comments section. We value the input!
Take care and God Bless.
Go West Young Man!!
Thanks for your vote! I may need another excel worksheet to decide this one!
We are tentatively planning to go to Michigan after we finish our workamping gigs in Georgia at the end of May 2020 – meet ya there? 😎
We certainly will if we decide on Michigan! Enjoy Maine this year.
