I had planned our 7-day Caribbean cruise several months ago and ended up taking the ship out of Miami instead of the local port here at Port Canaveral. The reason was a good deal through our agent Mindy, plus a chance to cruise on the mega ship, Oasis. Well, we were already halfway to Key West, Florida so it was just too tempting not to add a little three day surprise visit!
Oasis of the Seas – Our Cruise Ship and a Close Miss
I have commented about our recent cruise adventure in the last few posts, but not much about this incredible cruise ship, the Royal Caribbean Oasis of the Seas. So, I thought it would be worthy to take some space here to describe it and my thoughts as well. In addition, in a chat with the ship’s Captain, he discussed a very recent close miss with a Carnival ship.

Philipsburg St. Maarten – Cruise Part 3
We docked at Philipsburg, St. Maarten, the Dutch side of the island the next day after leaving San Juan. And I booked a trolley train tour to get some commentary as we cruised around the island. So, grab a beverage, sit back and enjoy the tour in this part 3 of our cruise.
San Juan, Puerto Rico – Cruise Part 2 – Walking Into 500 Years of History
Pat and I were getting well familiarized with this massive Oasis Class ship by day 4 when we pulled into the harbor at San Juan, Puerto Rico. I mean this is like a complex small town in 3D layers. You not only need to remember where all the restaurants and shops are located by fore and aft, but also on which of the 17 decks they are situated. To give us a break from all the onboard exploring, we got off to explore the very interesting town of San Juan!

Cocoa Florida and A Cruise Vacation!
This is our first vacation in almost three years since we retired and became full time RVers. Well, there was the Durango escape last summer. And sometimes it seems like we are on vacation all the time. But as full timers, we are usually just living and experiencing life in each different location. Anyway, we are super excited to be going on our first cruise in seven years. So, keep reading to find out about our relocation to Cocoa Florida and a cruise vacation!
Cortez Florida – Part Three & Goodbye
We ended our month long stay at this popular winter resort destination in Cortez Florida. It has been a wonderful location. Close to family and walking distance to a dozen restaurants and bars. And we had a great visit from our three kids just before Christmas. It is hard to say goodbye, but it is time to move on to the east coast of Florida and a vacation. But, before we go there, here is a wrap up from the final two weeks at Cortez Florida – Part 3 of 3.
Anna Maria Island, Fl – Family Christmas
It has been a couple of weeks since my last blog update. We have been very busy with a new relocation and a vacation thrown in for good measure. After having gone this long without typing my thoughts and searching for some good photos, I have found that I miss the updates. Miss the composing of these short essays.
Well, I’m back now and will try to get caught up on the prior few weeks. Going back to mid-December, our three kids all flew down to our base camp near Anna Maria Island, Florida, just south of Tampa on the gulf coast. We had been looking forward to their arrival and spending three days with them just hanging out and enjoying the great weather.
Cortez Florida – Our December Home!
Cortez Florida – Our December Home! We will be spending the entire month of December at the beautiful Buttonwood Inlet RV Resort in Cortez, Florida. We will be close to family, in walking distance to 20 or so seafood restaurants, and enjoying a tropical paradise. Finally, a chance to relax for awhile and enjoy!
