The featured image was taken at our DVPC church at sunset. We are staying at the Fort Chiswell RV Park, near our former home town of Christiansburg, VA for a month before getting back on the road. There are dentist appointments, RV work, a complete sort through all of our stuff, a new car to buy, family and friends to see, and a wedding to attend. We have accomplished much at about the halfway point, but still more to do! Continue reading “Fort Chiswell, Week #2”
Refrigerator Upgrade
One of the planned upgrades to our 5th wheel RV is to change out the old RV refrigerator and replace it with a residential model. We found a good RV shop near Radford Virginia, close to our old home town. So with a little advance planning, buying the new refrigerator and inverter, and some labor costs, we will have the upgrade completed. Continue reading “Refrigerator Upgrade”
Ft. Chiswell Virginia; Hurricane Hideout
We have been extremely fortunate so far from the Hurricane Florence weather impact. The rain was a constant warm mist type rain about all day on Saturday here at the Fort Chiswell RV Park. Then some on and off slightly harder rain overnight, but no flooding at our location. Today, (Sunday), it has been a little breezy with a very light mist. We keep waiting for the worst of it! Hurricane Status – Friday 9/14
Yesterday was a sunny and mostly clear day. Although the winds have picked up a bit. This weather was due to a high pressure cell located in southwest Virginia. That will all change by later on today as the Hurricane Florence approaches. The calm before the storm… Continue reading “Hurricane Status – Friday 9/14”
Back in Virginia; Watching for Hurricane Florence
It has been a crazy last week! I’ll try to provide an update here, although we did nothing too exciting except to dodge major storms. We are currently at an RV shop awaiting some upgrades and then decide where to go to escape Hurricane Florence! Continue reading “Back in Virginia; Watching for Hurricane Florence”
Harrisburg & Gettysburg PA
We did have some stress arriving at Harrisburg PA due to the camper brake failure and some really rough roads. And a few more challenges, once we arrived. Continue reading “Harrisburg & Gettysburg PA”
Travel Days to Harrisburg PA and Another Brake Failure!
We have covered some distance in the last few days. South from Connecticut on the extremely rough I-84. Potholes, open seams, and all manner of other bumps and holes. On the way to Harrisburg, PA. On top of that, we were traversing through the Poconos. Long and steep uphill grades followed by the same downhill. Let’s just say it is not my favorite driving. And then the right front trailer hub began to smoke! Yikes! Continue reading “Travel Days to Harrisburg PA and Another Brake Failure!”
The GrandView Camp Resort & History
Our campground resort was a very nice place located in a pretty remote area of Connecticut. The Grandview is situated on a hillside overlooking a horse farm and valley. They have several outdoor sports, a large swimming pool, and two large indoor gathering places. The most interesting thing is about its haunted past… Continue reading “The GrandView Camp Resort & History”
Mystic Connecticut & Maritime Museum
We decided to work in this day trip as we were nearing the end of our week in Connecticut. It was just less than an hour to this very busy tourist town and then a few more minutes to find a parking spot for the big truck. The Mystic historic downtown and the Maritime Museum were a nice day outing. Continue reading “Mystic Connecticut & Maritime Museum”
Goodspeed Opera House: Oliver!
We found this beautiful local venue and began to check on its history and what was currently playing. The Goodspeed Opera House is definitely a return to a more elegant time. It is nestled into a small corner in the quaint, small village of East Haddam, right on the Connecticut River. So, I got online and ordered our tickets to see Oliver! Continue reading “Goodspeed Opera House: Oliver!”
